The Top Toledo Area Farmers’ Markets (Updated)

Note: This post has been updated as of May 2017 to reflect recent market additions and date changes.

As a locally owned company, we are major advocates for shopping at and supporting small, local businesses. One of the best venues for said behavior is at the local farmers’ market, where farmers, makers, and small business owners come together to share their wonderful produce and products with the community.

Not to mention, shopping at a farmers’ market is a much healthier alternative to stocking the grocery cart with packaged and processed foods. It’s simply easier to make healthy food choices when you have a wide array of locally grown, colorful and oftentimes organic produce to choose from! This seems like a win-win, if you ask us.

While the downtown Toledo Farmers’ Market is open year-round, we’re approaching the time of year where there are several markets to choose from — some of which might be much closer to your home or occurring on a more convenient day of the week. So take a look at the various farmers’ markets in the area and make shopping local a part of your summer weekly routine!

Downtown Toledo Farmers’ Market

525 Market Street, Toledo, OH 43604

Toledo Farmers' Markets

Spring/Summer Market:
May–November
Saturdays 8 a.m.–2 p.m.

Winter Market:
December–April
Saturdays 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

The downtown Toledo market is much more than a wonderful year-round market — it’s an experience. A myriad of vendors passionate about the community line the designated market area on Market Street every Saturday, offering fruits, vegetables, coffee, soap, flowers, local honey, bread, pastries, eggs and more! You can feel a sense of camaraderie and positivity in the air as you stroll through the market, seeing the smiling faces of vendors passionate about their product or craft.

If you’re not a cash carrier, you’re in luck! You can use your card to buy tokens that can be used to purchase items, and many vendors even accept credit or debit cards using Square.

Going to the downtown market is the perfect way to spend your Saturday — where you can support local farmers and makers, and restock your fridge and pantry with fresh ingredients while you’re at it.

Westgate Farmers’ Market

During the summer and early fall, you can get your shopping done on Wednesday afternoons at the Westgate Farmers’ Market. This market takes place outside Elder-Beerman in the Westgate Village Shopping Center parking lot. This convenient location means it’s an easy stop on your way home from work where you can grab a tote full of fresh produce for a homemade dinner.

A smaller selection makes this as not as overwhelming as the downtown market on Saturdays, so you can get what you want and finish your shopping quickly!

The Maumee Farmers’ Market is one of the newer markets in the area, but is a local gem nonetheless. Vendors from Maumee and nearby communities will gather to sell trinkets, fresh produce, jams and baked goods. After you’re done shopping and chatting up the artisans, make sure to indulge in Food Truck Fridays for dinner, during which local trucks will serve up bites just outside the market. Sounds like the perfect way to kick off a weekend!

Shop Local, Toledo!
