Perhaps more exciting than even the start of a new year (because what would NYE be without a toast?), New Beer’s Eve is the celebration of the end of Prohibition in the United States. Legend has it that in the early morning of April 7th, immediately following the end of the alcohol ban, President Roosevelt declared, “I think this would be a good time for a beer.” After 13 years of Prohibition, he was apparently not the only one who felt this way and it is estimated that 1.5 million gallons of beer were consumed in those first 24 hours.
To commemorate the eve of beer’s legal reintroduction into the US, we’d like to recognize the dedicated, local brewers within our own area. These breweries have made it their mission to create quality ale in NW Ohio, and they certainly deserve to be celebrated on this glorious New Beer’s Eve!
