Summer is finally here! Whether you are looking to take the kids out for an adventure, have drinks and meet new people, or explore other cultures, the Toledo area hosts some fantastic local Summer Fairs and Festivals. Get your calendars ready because we have gathered a list of must visits, that will keep you busy throughout the whole summer.
Friday, June 1st 6pm to Sunday, June 3rd 6pm
The first week in June, The Old West End celebrates with friends and neighbors throughout the neighborhood. Watch the parade, travel through the historic houses during the house tour, walk or run in the 5K, or buy some artistic creations at the art fair all in “Toledo’s Best Neighborhood”.

Don’t miss out on the OLPH Fest’s 100th (and sadly, final) year June 1st-3rd. Popular Toledo band, Arctic Clam, will play in the main tent on Saturday 8pm-12am to celebrate Centennial Saturday. This festival is fun for all ages with an assortment of rides, games, pony rides, and bands.

The 36th Annual Whitehouse Cherry Fest brings something for everyone and promises fun for the whole family. With a Cherry Pie Eating Contest, fresh cherry pies, and turnovers, the treats will certainly entice you to attend this event. Enjoy rides, a classic car show, Laurel’s Princess Parties Superheroes, Pageant, 5k, and the Beer Garden. Friday and Saturday hosts numerous high flying, smash mouth, heart pounding action live matches from Northwest Ohio Wrestling’s champions. Grab your seat for The Edward Jones Cherry Fest Parade Saturday, June 9th at 1pm and then finish the night at the Fireworks Show at NONA France Quarry starting at 10pm. This event is held with free parking and free admission.

With almost a week of fun, there is plenty of time to stop by Holland’s Strawberry Festival. Bring your car, truck, or bike to show them off at the Show during the weekend. New to the festival is the kids Pedal Tractor Pulls during the weekend which could qualify your child for the state competition. Cook up something delicious and enter the Bake Off, show off your skills during the cornhole tournament, or sit back and watch the parade go by. Northwest Ohio’s premier fine arts festival showcases over 200 artists from across the country’s creations. Since 1965, this highly recognized fine arts show has been bringing art lovers together to share in their craft at the Toledo Botanical Garden. It’s Ohio’s oldest outdoor juried art festival! The Crosby Festival of Arts brings in over 20,000 visitors as the only show of its size and caliber in our region. Support for the Crosby Festival of the Arts is provided by the Ohio Arts Council.
Saturday, June 30 2pm — 10pm
FREE admission and parking makes it impossible to turn down the fun at the Springfield Township Freedom Celebration. Complete with food trucks, face painting, inflatables, and a 21 & over beer garden with live entertainment. You don’t want to miss this one! The event is held at Community Homecoming Park in Holland, giving everyone a great view of the end the day fireworks show (starting at dusk).
Saturday, July 7th 6pm — 10pm
Head out to the Toledo Museum of Arts grounds for a FREE celebration of Summer. The 5th Annual TMA Block Party brings together thousands of people for a night of fun. Enjoy art demonstrations, experiences, hands-on activities, food, music, kids’ programs, and lots of other entertainment in front of the Art Museum.

Monday July 30th 8am-11pm through Monday August 6th 8am-11pm (12am on weekend)
The 8-day 145th annual Wood County Fair brings over 100,000 people to Bowling Green, Ohio every year. This long-standing tradition focuses on supporting the “county’s youth and community members by providing exhibitions, education and entertainment that create a sense of pride in our communities, county and state.” This year’s fair will host the Charlie Daniels Band as their headliner on August 4th. Walk through the barns and check out all the award-winning animals, view artwork of all kinds such as photography, fine arts, crafting, and more. Come hungry, because in addition to the traditional (and some non-traditional) fair food, you will find lots of homemade treats (pie, cheesecake, salsa, wine, brew, baked goods, & more) that will satisfy your tastebuds. Friday August 10 & Saturday August 11
Held in the historic uptown district of Maumee, the annual Maumee Summer Fair has something for everyone. With 150 arts and craft booths, you’ll find the perfect piece for your home. Children will love the Kid’s Zone with bounce houses, inflatables, caricature artist and face painting. Taste some of the great food Maumee has to offer while listening to dance-worthy music all night long. For the 21-and-older crowd, the party will go late into the night with more music and a Beer Garden adjacent to the Taste of Maumee food vendors.
Friday August 24th through Sunday August 26th
Mark your calendars now for Toledo’s oldest and largest ethnic festival, the German American Festival. Taste some of the delicious German food while you enjoy ice cold imported beer. With authentic German music filling the festival, folk dancing, and lots of other entertainment, this is the festival to be at! Activities and rides for the kids, German contests, and so much more, spend the whole day celebrating at the GAF.

Indulge in the rich culture at this year’s Greek American Festival. Start the festival by tasting delicious authentic Greek food and pastries. While enjoying your food, enjoy Greek dancing performances throughout the weekend. Take a tour of the beautiful Byzantine Cathedral, learn more about the language and culture, enjoy free cooking demos, and listen to live Greek musicians.

Filling the streets of downtown Bowling Green, the Black Swamp Arts Festival, BSAF, has a mission to “connect art and the community by presenting an annual arts festival and by promoting the arts in the Bowling Green community.” This 3-day annual festival hosts top-rated fine artists and musicians and will keep you entertained all weekend long. With the upbeat atmosphere and something for everyone, the event brings more than 60,000 people to Bowling Green each year. With over 150 booths filled with talented artists and their creations, you will definitely be able to find an inspiring art piece.
