St. Patrick’s Day in the City

Whether you have Irish in your blood or not, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day is always a great time! In our area there are many ways to celebrate. As the luck of the Irish would have it, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a weekend this year, which means you get double the party! There is a little something for everyone, so let’s jump right in.

Friday March 15th

The Shamrockin’ Shuffle

Start the weekend off on the right foot with a 3 mile shuffle in Downtown Toledo.  You don’t have to be a runner to have fun at this event! Run, walk or shuffle your way from the corner of North Huron and Monroe street through a mapped out course. You can stop at the 2 mile mark or continue on to round off at mile three. The course will lead you back to the start and right to the tents of The Blarney Irish Pub festivities. Participants are asked to register beforehand HERE, with the shuffle to commence at 8pm.  Don’t forget to wear all the green you can find, it’s a party!

Outside The Blarney Irish Pub, party tents will be set up where the drinks will be flowing. Book That DJ will be providing the jams from 5pm-12pm. Last call outdoors is 11:45pm, but have no fear, The Blarney Irish Pub will be open throughout all festivities until 2am. The Blarney will also continue the holiday cheer through St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th. Visit their events page HERE for further weekend details.

Saturday March 16th

TASA Annual Pub Crawl

The weekend continues Saturday with the TASA Annual Pub Crawl. Join fellow St. Patrick’s Day enthusiasts for a round, or two, of green brew at 15 participating bars. You won’t need to worry about driving for this event! Throughout the night, 8 buses will run ever 20-30mins from 1pm-11pm with 2 loop options. The Sylvania Loop and Downtown Loop both take you to the Backyard BBQ & Booze to switch buses. The Sylvania Loop takes you past Pat & Dandy’s, Bier Stube, 5th Street Pub, Paddy Jack’s, Frog Town Johnnies, and Andy’s. The Downtown Loop will take you to other participating locations such as OB’s Tavern, O’Sheas, Chevy’s Place, Downtown Johnny’s, Home Slice, Cock n’Bull, and Jamo’s.

Tickets for the event can be purchased HERE. Bus passes are $30 and come with $20 of game play with a purchase of $20 game play at Dave & Buster’s. You can pick up your passes at OB’s. Will-Call tickets may be picked up at the Backyard BBQ & Booze from 6pm-8PM the Friday before, and on Saturday the day of the event.

Be sure to come out and fill your pot with some gold for St. Paddy’s Day!

Sunday March 17

Finish your St. Patrick’s Day weekend off with a final lap to the bars in Downtown Bowling Green. This year, Bowling Green hosted “Dublin’ the Fun 2019” with two weekends of celebration. “St. Practice Day” may be over, but you can still head to The Stones Throw: Tavern & Grill on Sunday to get your Irish spirits. Other participating locations include Doc’s Big City SaloonCameo Pizza, City Tap and the Attic, as well as 149 BG! Be sure to check online to see what each location will be doing for the day, hours of operation may very depending on location. Mug holders will receive $3 32oz Green Bud Light refills until noon, and $4 fills after noon on St. Patrick’s Day. The Stones Throw: Tavern & Grill will be serving other traditional Irish favorites like Guinness, Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale, Harp, Strongbow, and more!

Additional Fun

Our Michigan and Findlay residents have plenty of party options, too! In Downtown Findlay,  the Anvil Whiskey Bar will be hosting live performances Friday and Saturday, featuring music from Picking Kelly, Ben Barefoot and 3 Rings Left. Special menu items will be provided both days, and additional information can be found on their Facebook Page. Other bars will also be hosting events over the weekend including The Bourban Affair, Dougie John’s Pizza, the Findlay Brewing Company, and Logan’s Irish Pub.

In Temperance, Michigan, immerse yourself in Irish culture with live entertainment, parades, and Irish food & drink. You can head over to Jig’s Dinner for a feast on Sunday, accompanied with specialty Irish beers. Over in Detroit, feel inspired by Irish music while admiring Celtic based designs at Pewabic Pottery, or head over to Beacon Park for a day of family fun with the kids. Experience traditional Irish dancing and food outdoors, while enjoying kid friendly activities like face painting, crafts, and lawn games.
