Bold Design Trends to Help You Rekindle Your Home’s Spark

Homes are meant to be a place of comfort, where we can really let our walls down and be ourselves. However, like a long-term relationship, sometimes we get too comfortable and the spontaneity dwindles.

February is all about romance and it’s time to spice things up with a home makeover! If your dwelling is feeling a bit dull, these bold design trends are sure to rekindle the spark.

BULKY FURNITURE
With an emphasis on both comfort and visual appeal, 2026 is the year of bulky, oversized sofas and sectionals. Sink in and curl up with deep seats, chunky cushions, and wide armrests. The other benefit is that boxy furniture adds a sculptural element to your room. Proper placement is key! Make sure to measure so you don’t end up with an ill-fitting obstacle.

TEXTILE WALL HANGINGS
Tapestries give the room a textural, layered look where you can showcase unique art. Whether you choose a vintage pattern, geometric shapes, a free-flowing print or something more specific to your taste, the addition of fabric creates a fun focal point.

OVER-THE-TOP MIRRORS

Gain a whole new perspective with mirrors that create an interesting, artistic backdrop. People are moving away from forgettable rustic pieces and leaning toward mirrors that reflect a story of their own. Think: irregular shapes, fractured glass, metal sectioning, and embedded LED lighting.

FRINGE ACCENTS
Fringe adds depth, texture, and movement to a space, creating a high-end yet playful look. Bed skirts, curtains, lamp shades, and pillows are excellent choices for experimenting with fringe.

ECCENTRIC FAUX FURS

Fur has been back, but mainly in the form of rugs. In 2026, faux furs are poised to be even bolder. Picture electric colored animal prints, accent chairs, and ottomans. Some designers are even predicting the return of fur-covered walls. We're not sure if we’re sold on that one, but it could serve as a stylish safety feature if you’re prone to running into walls.

MONOCHROMATIC ROOMS
Like furs, the rise of monochromatic color schemes has been in full swing, especially with the prominence of color drenching. The traditional monochromatic room with one shade used throughout will remain popular in 2026 (meaning the same paint color used on walls, ceiling, trim, and doors with matching furniture, curtains, and decor). But designers are also seeing a twist on this theme as people are incorporating the same color family with a variety of shades and materials to add layers. This gives the room a minimalistic yet dramatic look.

ANALOG ROOMS
Analog rooms are a shift away from all-consuming technology and designed to be screen-free, primarily in the form of dens, libraries or reading rooms. The purpose is to focus on human connection while disconnecting from the digital world. Ironically, despite this being the age of AI, interior design seems to be trending away from overly-techy spaces. With the continuous release of new smart home devices, notifications that never stop, and unprovoked AI assistants butting into our daily interactions—we can certainly understand the draw of momentarily escaping technology.

WARM NEUTRALS
We admit that neutral colors may not classify as bold, per se, but the recent evolution of neutrals is more fun than you might expect! Plus, this is a good baby step for those who don’t like to go all-in on current trends.

Say goodbye to cloudy greys and sterile whites. Beige has returned as the supreme neutral when it comes to paint colors, and it’s reinvented itself from the oversaturated Tuscan-style of the 90s and early aughts. Things are heating up with warm tans, rich caramels, and earthy sand tones. Take Universal Khaki, for example. This was Sherwin Williams’ 2026 Color of the Year, and it shows the versatility of a tan that can pair well with both cool or warm palettes. Muted beige can also help tone down outdated orange woods. Beige doesn’t have to be boring! With a modern refresh, it might just be the warm background you need to let your personality pop in other ways.

Interior design isn’t only a matter of aesthetics—it’s about creating a home that feels unmistakably you. When your home reflects who you are and what you love, it becomes a place you’re excited to return to each day. Whether it’s through eye-catching textures, revamped colors, or unexpected details, don’t be afraid to break up the monotony with fearless design choices!
