Dry January: Quench Your Thirst With These Refreshing Mocktails

As the holidays wind down and the new year begins, many people embrace Dry January—a month-long commitment to forgo alcohol and refresh their bodies and minds. Whether you’re looking to reset after the holiday indulgence, explore healthier choices, or simply enjoy a creative twist on your favorite beverages, Dry January is the perfect opportunity to discover a world of delicious mocktails. These alcohol-free recipes prove that you can create a truly enjoyable drink without a single drop of booze!

touchdown tea

INGREDIENTS:
3 black tea bags
¼ cup pure maple syrup
1 medium red apple, thinly sliced
2 cups apple cider

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a small pot over high heat, bring 4 cups water to a boil. Pour boiling water into a large heatproof pitcher or jar. Add tea bags and maple syrup and stir to combine. Let steep 3 to 5 minutes.
2. Remove and discard tea bags. Let tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold, 4 to 12 hours.
3. When ready to serve, add apple slices and cider to pitcher and stir.

 

candy cane martini mocktail

INGREDIENTS:
1 oz candy cane syrup
1 oz non-alcoholic white creme de cacao
1 ½ oz lemon juice
2 full-sized candy canes (save some for garnish)
Garnish: marshmallow fluff rim and crushed candy canes

DIRECTIONS:
1. Crush 2 full size candy canes in food processor or ziplock bag.
2. Set aside small plate of crushed candy canes for glass rim. Add the rest to a pot of boiling water. Reduce to a simmer and stir until candy canes are dissolved.
3. Combine candy cane syrup, non-alcoholic white creme de cacao, and lemon juice in a shaker with ice and shake until well chilled.
4. Fill a small plate with thin layer of marshmallow fluff and get out separate plate of crushed candy canes.
5. Dip the glass rim into fluff then roll through crushed candy canes.
6. Pour mocktail into glass and garnish with mini candy cane.

 

virgin pina colada

INGREDIENTS:
1 (10 oz) bag frozen pineapple chunks
4 large scoops of ice cream
1 cup coconut milk
½ cup pineapple juice
Pineapple wedge, for serving
Maraschino cherry, for serving

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a blender, blend frozen pineapple, ice cream, coconut milk, and pineapple juice.
2. Divide between glasses and garnish with pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry.

mojito mocktail

INGREDIENTS:
10 mint leaves
2 tbsp lime juice
2 tbsp honey simple syrup
10 oz sparkling water
Ice
Lime slices
 

DIRECTIONS:
1. Place mint leaves and lime juice in a glass and muddle together for 1 minute.
2. Add the honey simple syrup.
3. Add sparkling water.
4. Garnish with lime slices, a sprig of mint, and fresh fruit.

 

mocktail white russian

INGREDIENTS:
1 oz espresso or cold brew concentrate
2 oz vanilla cream soda
1 oz cream or whole milk
Garnish: shaved chocolate or cocoa powder

DIRECTIONS:
1. Add the vanilla cream soda, coffee, and cream or whole milk to a glass and stir to combine.
2. Garnish with shaved chocolate.

 

lemon drop

INGREDIENTS:
2 oz water
1 dash white wine vinegar
½ oz non-alcoholic triple sec
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz simple syrup

DIRECTIONS:
1. Make a small pile of sugar on a plate. Lightly apply lemon juice to the rim of a cocktail glass and roll in sugar. Allow sugar to dry while preparing drink.
2. Add water, non-alcoholic triple sec, lemon juice, white wine vinegar, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice.
3. Shake until well chilled.
4. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a lemon peel twist.

 

classic virgin margarita

INGREDIENTS:
2 oz water
½ oz non-alcoholic triple sec or freshly squeezed orange juice
1 oz lime juice
¾ oz agave syrup
Garnish: salt rim and lime wedge

DIRECTIONS:
1. Run a lime wedge along the rim of your glass then dip the glass at an angle in coarse kosher salt. Skip this step if youre not a fan of salt with margaritas.
2. Combine the water, non-alcoholic triple sec (or orange juice), lime juice, and agave syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until well chilled.
3. Strain into a glass of fresh ice.
4. Garnish with a lime wedge.
